Check out this cool, short, video about how a book is made.  Specifically in this case it is The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, of which they printed 5 MILLION copies to start!

Fascinating!! I love to see how things are made–ever since that first one i saw–Mr. Rogers touring the Crayon factory and showing how they were made!! This one kind of tells me why hardback books are so expensive. Society’s need for bigger and better graphics demand a more expensive process. Although it’s a positive that graphics have become so much more sophisticated thru the years, sadly the day of the typical illustrator who draws or paints is over.

Well the beancounters must have done the math and determined that all of this (expensive) cover art increases sales. Wow.

I just finished reading this book. Unfortunately, the fancy cover didn’t improve the content inside. ;)

This was really interesting; thanks for posting about it. (I liked the armed security guards…LOL)

Although Michele’s right about the pretty cover not improving the content in this case, that was really cool, so thank you for sharing!
