Great Writing: Joe Posnanski

June 16th, 2009

Welcome to the 2nd edition of Great Writing.  In this issue we feature Joe Posnanski, a baseball beat writer for the Kansas City Royals.  As an added bonus, JoePos is from Cincinnati…like me!  (update: Posnanski is actually from Cleveland but spent time in Cincinnati. But he knows what Skyline Chili is so it’s still OK) He also has a book coming out in September about the Big Red Machine, which I am very excited to read and review for Letters on Pages.

In addition to writing for the Kansas City Star he writes a super awesome blog where he goes deep into baseball statistics and also writes about random other stuff.  This example is in the random other stuff category where he writes a hilarious post about a new product called “The Comfort Wipe”.

Yes, the Comfort Wipe.  Go ahead and guess what that product does.

Go read Posnanski’s post about the product.  My advice is to read his hysterical post BEFORE watching the embedded video…it’s much funnier that way.

If you are interested in baseball, I would also highly recommend adding his blog to your RSS.  He is probably the best baseball writer out there.
