Book News: Lady Returns Library Book 31 Years Late

May 13th, 2009

I think this story is hilarious for a couple of reasons…first, it is funny that the lady had the book for 31 years!  From St. Augustine.com:

On March 16, 1978, with Jimmy Carter in the White House and Dick Cavett on late night TV, Sarah McKee walked into a library and borrowed a book.

On this day her eye fell on Alvin M. Josephy’s “The Patriot Chiefs,” about great Indian leaders.

It was due April 5.

This month — three decades, one career, five presidents, three relocations, seven grandchildren and thousands of books later — McKee happened to open “The Patriot Chiefs,” spotted the library card in the pocket and thought: “Drat.”

Haha…That’s funny. But my question is…why wasn’t she treated like the last tardy book returner I wrote about?
