Heroes Among Us by John Quinones
April 14th, 2009Title: Heroes Among Us
Author: John Quniones
Publisher: HarperCollins (2008)

Do you know who John Quinones is? He is an ABC journalist and hosts the TV show “What Would You Do”. It is a pretty neat candid camera show that sets up different situations to see how regular people respond. It’s funny and sad at the same time. It’s one of those shows that you watch and are totally amazed that people would act that way. Then you wonder…”Would I respond the same way?” I think everyone assumes they would do the right thing, but apparently we wouldn’t. Anyway…that’s the guy who wrote this book.
Heroes Among Us: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Choices by John Quinones is a cute little book about various people from around the world that Quinones came across (mostly) during his life. I don’t really know what to say about this book though. Nice little short stories about non-famous people and the great things they have done. It is an uplifting book that makes you feel good about humanity for a while.
I’d reccomend this book to people who are jaded and need some optimism. I guess I would recommend this book to anyone really. Quite the sales pitch, huh!

SO,YEAH IF YOU HAVE ANY KIND OF DECENCY…..
SR. QUINONES, It was a pleasure to have met you in San Antonio. I never would have guessed that such a fine distiguished man such as yourself came from a migrant family. You are a true leader to our hispanic population. I’m grateful to your parents and you for not giving up. Working late hours for your ten seconds of air time at 2:30 in the morning, that lead you to where you are today. “What Would You Do?”, by far is one of the best candid camera shows that I’ve seen ever. It just goes to show that a little decency goes a long way. God bless you always and keep doing “What Would You Do?”. Because, Sr. Quinones you are indeed a hero among us. Thank you for taking time after you had some dinner to give autographs and take pictures with all the people that admire you. When I left San Antonio I went down to McAllen,Texas to see my dad,he was diagnosed with dementia. He recognized me and we were talking and he asked me what I was doing and I told him that I had been in San Antonio for a conference and I showed him the pictures on my phone and he said that man is John Quinones from ABC News. I said, “Your right dad that is John Quinones and he’s a fine man.” and he smiled at me .
