i had a couple faves in grade school. first and foremost the Danny Dunn series..you know, "and the homework machine" .."and the fossil cave",etc. I really liked those adventures. I also liked the Henry Huggins series...i was reading them when they were new (!) and couldn't wait til the next one came out, like Beezus and Ramona. fun stuff!!! and evidently books DO impact you for life, as like Kim L., i still remember the plots too!! (p.s. by the way,how very clever of encyclopedia brown!)

OMG, encyclopedia brown was the best. I still remember the way he solved some of those mysteries. That Civil War sword is a fake! It says its from the first Battle of Bull Run, but the date is before the Second Battle of Bull Run and how would they have known there would be a second battle there!

Sideways Stories was another favorite of mine. Boy I loved that book.
