Book News: Danielle Steel Is A Blogger

October 30th, 2008

Exciting news for Danielle Steel fans…she has decided to start a blog.  I imagine this is VERY exciting news and I would be pretty pumped if I had ever read one of her books.  From the AP:

I’ve remained very remote and very private, partly because of all my kids (nine). They’re bigger now and I would like to communicate with my readers in a more informal way, not just through the list of my accomplishments on my publisher’s Web site.

That’s cool I guess. Any of you Danielle Steel fans? Will you read this blog?

The part of this article that was more interesting to me is this:

An acknowledged technophobe who writes on a 1946 typewriter, Steel says her children dragged her into the computer age, teaching her how to e-mail and inspiring her to take a closer look at what is written on the Internet.

That annoys me. A 1946 typewriter?!? Really? Not that a 1987 typewriter would be better. I don’t know why it bugs me so much…it just does

I think there’s something quaint about the idea of a 1946 typewriter, but I don’t understand how any serious writer could knowingly pass up the opportunity to use the delete keys, to cut and paste things, and to re-work paragraphs without having to start that page all over again. Computers may be evil, but they’re damn convenient when it comes to editing. Those are my two cents. It will probably be a cold day in hell before I read a Danielle Steele book.

Nine kids and all those books…she most likely does not have time to go buy a new typewriter. But I agree that a computer would be way easier. And since she is blogging, I assume she has one. Maybe she likes the click-clack.

No, I never read one of her books either. But someone is.
They read her books in Hell?…that explains why she sells so many!
