Game: What Book Character Would You Be?
September 18th, 2008A couple of buddies and I were playing a game at work. The question was…”If you could have any traits from any movie character…who would that be.”
There are a number of clarifying rules:
1. You only obtain their physical attributes, mental attributes and general life philosophy.
2. You have none of the potential baggage this character had in their past (if they used to be a bank robber, you don’t have to worry about being arrested.)
3. You don’t necessarily meet the same end as your character (so you don’t have to worry about picking Butch Cassidy).
4. You cannot pick a superhero (because then Superman is obviously the answer).
5. You cannot pick someone considered diety from a religious text.
So I ask you this:
What movie character would you be? Why?
What book character would you be? Why?
My answer (to both questions) is Jason Bourne. He is just generally awesome, speaks like 23 languages, can kill a man with a pen (if needed) and knows how to do everything.
A close second would probably be the Apostle Paul.

That’s a fun question. My answer for both would probably be Hermione Granger. She’s wicked smart, she’s concerned about important things (like the welfare of house elves), and…well, she’s a witch, so she can just whip out her wand and pretty much do anything. Plus, she’s got some really terrific friends.

I think I would like to be Austin Powers for obvious reasons and the boy from the Giving Tree because I think it would be awesome to have a tree friend who talks to me.

I was going to say Hermione Granger, but I’m going to go with Sabriel from the Garth Nix series. She battles the Dead and other evil creatures, and walks in Death. Yeah. I’m a geek.

Great question. For a book character, I am choosing Elizabeth Bennet from Jane Austen’s pride and prejudice because of her mind and spirit. I just love that character. She is like one of the first modern female characters. And from the movies, I would choose to be Buffy the vampire slayer for obvious reasons. Unless she is considered to be a superhero.
