Inside The Reader’s Studio Meme
August 28th, 2008Jennifer from The Literate Housewife (originating at The Book Lady’s Blog) tagged me with this meme. I didn’t know what meme meant until about 3 minutes ago. Basically it is when a set of questions gets passed around the intergoogle to be answered by different people. (note: the true definition of a meme, according to Wikipedia, is “is any thought or behavior that can be passed from one person to another by means of imitation.” Which is kind of…but not really…what is happening here. Anyway…I am excited because this is my first one and I get to pretend James Lipton is awkwardly asking the questions while staring intensely in my eyes.
—————————
In the spirit of continuing my “getting to know you” theme from last week, I thought I’d borrow this questionnaire from my good buddy James Lipton (love him!) at Inside the Actors Studio and try to get a fun little meme started at the same time. So, I’ll answer the questions and then tag three of my blogging buddies, who will then tag three more, and well…you see how it goes.
What is your favorite word? My favorite word is probably retroworter. I saw this word the other day. It is German for palindrome, which is a word that is spelled the same front and back. Ironically (or maybe on purpose), retroworter is a palindrome itself. Unfortunately, I have never actually been able to use the word until now. (honorable mention to “tiddlywinks”)
What is your least favorite word? Anything said with a Boston accent. But as far as a specific word, although it is not actually a real word, is when people say “idear” instead of “idea”. That drives me crazy. I’m angry just thinking about it.
What turns you on (creatively, spiritually or emotionally)? a perfectly written song, laughing, my wife, good television
What turns you off (creatively, spiritually or emotionally)? speed metal, lifetime original movies, pickles
What sound or noise do you love? Getting Better segueing into Fixing a Hole, Hugh Laurie’s American accent
What sound or noise do you hate? loud eating, loud eating, loud eating, loud eating.
What is your favorite curse word? I think cursing is unnecessary. That’s not to say I have never used a curse word or two (or three), but I always feel stupid after I use it because I know I could have expressed myself more elegantly. I also realize that’s probably not the answer this question is looking for, so I will go with “dirty pirate hooker” as a backup.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Professional songwriter/musician, writer
What profession would you not like to do? Septic tank cleaner, micro and developmental biology researcher
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Welcome home.
I tag Abby at The Sideliner, Deena at A Peek at my Bookshelf, and RCR at Rose City Reader and I look forward to reading all of your responses!
What about you? Care to answer any of these questions?

“Stupid pirate hooker.” Now there’s one I haven’t heard before. I think my husband would like that. Yay for additions to the vocabulary.

Timmy – that’s somewhat ironic that you agree with me about eating noise.

Great answers, Adam! Eating noises are some of the very worst. Yuck, yuck, and yuck. I read some of these posts and I feel like such a heathen for my love of cursing. Oh well, it takes all kinds, right?
I do like dirty pirate hooker, but if I might add d@mn dirty pirate hooker.
