McCartney by Christopher Sandford

Title: McCartney
Author: Christopher Sandford
Publisher: Carroll & Graf (2006)

I have probably read more total pages about the Beatles as a group and their individual lives than any other topic. (like this ,this ,this & more. I love the Beatles. So when I recently found out that there was a Paul McCartney (unauthorized) biography that I hadn’t read…I had to get it! And what I found was that McCartney was a decent book, but did have some details and information I wasn’t aware of previously.

This book had a lot of the same stuff that was in the other books, which is to be expected. Because it was not written with McCartney’s approval or participation it did not really include any of the personal things McCartney was able to express in his authorized biographies. But that lack of participation meant the author was able to go places others probably couldn’t.

If you are a Beatles fan you know that John Lennon was the crazy/angry Beatle. But this book goes to show just how big of an ego McCartney had as well. There are stories told by his (now estranged)step-sister of how badly he treated her part of the family…and once Paul’s dad died, he kicked them out of the house and basically had nothing to do with them ever again. There are also other stories that tell of McCartney’s private life at home and how great he was with his kids.

To be honest…I don’t know how accurate any of this book really is, but it seemed to have some credible sources. It wasn’t that great of a book and the author talked too much about his opinions on Beatles songs. Who Cares?!?

No matter what McCartney did in his private life…there are 2 things you can’t deny: One…That man knows how to write a great song! Two…Yoko Ono is evil.
